Itineraries in Liguria and Tuscany from camping Oasi del Belvivere

Sea, Mountain, City: all less than an hour away.

Portovenere

Portovenere is a small jewel, the quintessence of the typical Ligurian village, with the “carrugi” full of handicraft shops and typical local products, on which the famous sciaccatrà wine of the Cinque Terre stands out. From the monastery you can enjoy a spectacular view of the sea cliff and Byron’s cave.

There is also a small beach for swimming, but perhaps it is even more beautiful to take the fishermen’s boat that ferries to Palmaria, an islet of wild and unspoiled beauty, with beaches, rocks and many paths.

Sarzana

Sarzana is the most elegant and organized town of the lower Lunigiana: full of shops, food and wine proposals, art, culture, history, events. The medieval heart is intact, with its 2 castles-fortresses. The characteristic of Sarzana is that every historic corner has been beautifully restored to include classy commercial and artisan activities, harmonizing ancient and modern with style and sobriety.

D’estate tutta la cittadina si trasforma in una grande mostra mercato dell’antiquariato, la famosa “soffitta in strada” In settembre invece Sarzana ospita il festival della mente.

Fiumaretta, Marinella, antica Luni

Fiumaretta !!!! Incredibly suggestive. The place where the Opposites meet and embrace each other: think of yourself on a beautiful sunny winter morning, basking in the warmth on the beach: on one side, the boundless blue expanse of the sea, and on the other … the majestic peaks of the Apuan Alps, snow-capped, so similar to the Dolomites!

In summer, Fiumaretta beach keeps its charm (almost) intact: the Apuan Alps always seem to be covered in snow, because they are dotted with the white Carraramarble quarries.

It has a beautiful promenade along the sea, countless rather “in” restaurants and a small beach. To sailors and boating enthusiasts, Bocca di Magra is known for being the main boating point of reference on the Magra River, which right here flows into sea!

The characteristic of this river is that from Bocca di Magra upwards, for several kilometers, it is a whole pleasure port. Bocca di Magra is known above all for… Marino’s crepes! … very tasty …

Lunigiana, land of medieval villages and castles

There are still villages, scattered almost everywhere, without even a grocery store: once or twice a week the street vendors arrive for supplies! Intact medieval villages that in summer allow us to take a leap into the past, offering us picturesque medieval festivals (Fivizzano, Filetto, Fosdinovo and Many others).

Among the manors of Lunigiana, the one I love the most is the castle of Fosdinovo, still inhabited by the ghost of Count Malaspina, and his daughter. The Counts Malaspina still live in the castle today and they organize interesting guided tours every day.

For those who love adrenaline, we suggest not to miss the Fosdinovo Adventure Park, very close to the Fosdinovo Castle.

At the door of the village you change euros into sesterces and then you find yourself catapulted into the year 1000, with witches and fortune tellers who read your hand, knightly tournaments, markets and cuisine of the time, acrobats, acrobats, fire eaters, all with period costumes, drag you into dancing parties, bonfires and knightly tournaments.

The San Fruttuoso complex is part of this park: a delightful, small bay, reachable only on foot or from the sea. The splendid bay of San Fruttuoso houses a magical abbey dating back to the year one thousand, now owned by the FAI.

Colonnata and the lard, Carrara and the marble quarries

Colonnatais a unique village in the world: behind it dominate the white marble quarries and the hard life of the quarryman can still be felt in its narrow streets, a life made a little tastier by the famous lard that is produced here and tasted at every street corner. And, if you don’t like lard, in Colonnata you can enjoy a triumph of exquisite cured meats of all kinds.

Equi Terme

Equi is perhaps a little-known destination and, if you expect to meet a SPA-style thermal complex, you will be disappointed, but it is a fantastic trip for those who want to spend a day away from the sea heat: you can get to Equi through different routes, all well-kept roads that wind for kilometers in pristine woods, and from Equi you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Apuan Alps, in particular the majesticPizzo d’Uccellello seen from below.
The visit to the Equi caves is very nice and well organized.

Grotte del Vento and Vagli di Sotto

The game of the top of the hill to the fortune between Lunigiana and Garfagnana I have always liked it very much and it has allowed me to discover, every time, villages and landscapes of rare beauty, corners where to eat very well: a whole land absolutely out of time and space, crossed by many possible roads, lanes, detours, climbs get off.

I will never be able to forget the time when, by chance, I decided to “earn” the Garfagnana, starting from Massa, through the Pass of theDress.
Perhaps it is the most beautiful road I have ever done. Beautiful views of the sea, through the green wings of the trees, and views of the quarries, so close they seem to swallow you up! Try and see!

Il Parco dell’Occhiella

Few people in Italy know it, but many foreign tourists, especially Dutch, do not say that they come to Italy on purpose to visit it, but it is certainly a naturalistic attraction that they do not miss! It is difficult, in fact, to imagine a more beautiful place than Orecchiella Natural Park, with its botanical garden, made with all the typical flowers of the area, … more like an impressionist painting than a garden.

Words are not enough to give an idea of the Orecchiella Park, and even the photos do not convey the idea, because the Orecchiella Park is an unforgettable multisensory experience!
We therefore limit ourselves to presenting you with some photos and recommending you to go and visit it!

Versilia

Versilia needs no introduction! We just need to remember that, if you want to indulge yourself in the night life, in 20 minutes by car from the agricamping you can reach Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi and their intense nightlife.

For those who love wandering around the markets, we remind you that on Wednesday mornings, in Forte dei Marmi, the famous Mercato del Forte is held. Among the destinations of Versilia, in our opinion, it deserves particular attention Pietrasanta, discreetly elegant, known as the city of artists.

The Tuscan cities of art: Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia and Florence

In less than 1 hour, from the agricamping we can reach Pisaand from there continue to Luccaand Pistoia. In an hour and a half you can be in Florence!

Tower of Pisa, what can we say? It is famous all over the world because it leans! It is certainly worth a visit, as the Piazza dei Miracoli, of which the Tower of Pisa is part, is very interesting to visit.

Perhaps less well known, but absolutely not to be missed is Lucca, entirely enclosed within the intact medieval walls. Lucca is a jewel of rare beauty, a destination not to be missed!

This almost perfectly preserved jewel of medieval architecture and palaces exudes charm and displays layers of history from every corner of its narrow, winding streets: from the Romans, to the Middle Ages, to the Renaissance,… to the present day.

Val di Vara is the largest and greenest valley in Liguria,… and the least populated.

Green and uncontaminated pastures are its characteristic, what has allowed it to become the Organic Valley: the valley of natural products obtained without the use, at any stage of production, of synthetic chemicals, such as herbicides or pesticides, in the full respect for nature, plants, animals and the landscape.

Vegetables, meats, cheeses, fruit: agriculture in Val di Vara is favored by the particular genuineness of its land, with green woods, pastures and wild vegetation crossed by the Vara river.
